The nationally-ranked Johnnie golf team travels to North Carolina for practice and a dual meet against Division I High Point. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 16, at the Oak Hollow G.C. in High Point, N.C.
A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: The SJU golf team recently dropped two spots to fifth in the first Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Men's Coaches' poll of the spring season, despite not playing yet this semester. Prior to the High Point dual, the Johnnies are scheduled to practice at numerous courses, especially the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, which is the same site where they concluded their fall season at the Gordin Collegiate Classic in October. The Grandover Resort is also the site for this May's NCAA Division III Championships.
A LOOK AT THE PANTHERS: The High Point Panthers are coming off of a 10th place finish out of 15 teams at The Charleston Shootout, Feb. 28-Mar. 1. The Panthers shot a combined 303 in the third and final round, with a final team score of 902. Senior Nick Goins and sophomore Chase Wilson each carded a 54-hole score of 224 to finish tied for 29th. Wilson leads the team with 72.77 stroke average in 13 rounds (five events) so far this season.
