MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – For the second straight week, senior Jared Sundstrom (Proctor, Minn.) led the Johnnie Nordic ski team in both races of an NCAA Qualifier held Saturday and Sunday at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis. Among Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) skiers, he finished 29th (27:14.4) in Saturday's 10k freestyle and 28th (44:22.3) in Sunday's 15k classic.

Freshman Kellen Witschen (Aurora, Minn./Mesabi East) was the second Johnnie to cross the finish line Saturday in 34th (27:49.7), followed by sophomore Ethan Evenson (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale) in 51st (29:36.0). As a team, SJU finished eighth out of nine teams.

The Johnnies finished seventh out of nine teams in Sunday's 15k classic. Witschen finished two places behind Sundstrom in 30th (44:39.2) Sunday. Senior Adam Johnson (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) served as SJU's third finisher in 46th (48:04.7).

The Johnnies make their first of six trips outside the state this Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29-30, at Michigan Tech in Houghton, Mich.
