SJU Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Saint John's split a pair of games at Concordia-Moorhead on Tuesday, April 28. The Johnnies took the first game 8-5 before falling in game two, 9-1.

Junior Joe Eiden (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) led the charge in game one with a 3-for-4 performance on the plate in the No. 9 spot of the order. Freshmen Matt Boys (Eden Prairie, Minn./Minnetonka) and Bert Marsnik (Annandale, Minn.) added two hits apiece. Marsnik also doubled and added three RBI.

Junior Andrew Aebly (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) went the distance allowing five runs, all in the sixth and seventh innings, on 10 hits while striking out five to earn the win (2-0).

Sophomores Kyle Henkemeyer (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) and Brian Skluzacek (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) posted two hits each to provide four of the Johnnies' five base-hits in game two.

Concordia's Jake Torrison pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball until Skluzacek's RBI single. Torrison entered the game with an 8.56 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched.

SJU (11-19, 6-12 MIAC) ends its 2009 season against Hamline on Saturday, May 2. The doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the St. Anthony Village High School.
