Saint John’s University freshman Michael Coborn (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) had quite a week for the Johnnie soccer team, scoring each of the team’s five goals against a pair of MIAC Playoff teams. He tallied a hat trick in the first half of the Johnnies’ 4-3 double-overtime loss to MIAC-champion Macalester on Tuesday, Oct. 26. He then scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner 2:10 into the first overtime, to defeat Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Coborn ended the 2010 season as SJU’s leader in goals (6), assists (5), points (17), shots (58) and shots-on-goal (28).

John Haws ended his first season as head coach with a 6-6-4 overall record and a 5-3-2 mark in the MIAC to finish sixth in the conference standings. The Johnnies were predicted to finish ninth in the MIAC preseason coaches’ poll after a 5-11-2 record (1-8-1 MIAC) in 2009.
