A national qualifier a year ago, Saint John's senior Teddy Erickson (Annandale, Minn.) went 3-0 to win the 174-pound bracket Sunday (Dec. 4) at the MSU-Moorhead Dragon Open.

He started his day with a 19-0 technical fall and just missed another with a 14-2 major decision over Division II MSU-Moorhead's Logan Rhode to advance to the championship match. Erickson claimed the title with a 5-4 win over Northland C.T.C.'s Mitchell Zachman.

Seven other SJU wrestlers placed at the meet and combined for a 6-9 record against Division I or Division II competition on the day.

The Johnnies make the short trip east to compete at the St. Cloud State Open at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Dec. 10, at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud.
