Saint John's University junior cornerback Bobby Fischer (Plymouth, Minn./Osseo) intercepted three passes in the Johnnies' 61-0 shutout of Hamline last Saturday. The three picks are the most by a Johnnie in a single game since 2003 (four by Paul Gans vs. Augsburg). Fischer returned the three interceptions for a combined 99 yards on the afternoon. He was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.

He ended the regular season as the MIAC's leader in interceptions (7), interception return yards (243) and passes defended (17). His season total of seven is the most by a Johnnie since 2002 (10 by Jeremy Goltz and Jason Pflipsen). Fischer also posted 35 tackles (19 solo) on the year.

SJU ended the 2011 season with a 5-3 record in the MIAC and a 6-4 overall record. Head coach John Gagliardi ended his 63rd season as a collegiate coach with a 484-133-11 (.779) career record, including a 460-127-10 (.779) record in 59 seasons at SJU.
