Slavik, Brayden

Brayden Slavik

Brayden Slavik '26 is in his first season as an assistant coach for the SJU swimming & diving team in the 2026-27 academic year.

Slavik was one of SJU's most decorated swimmers from 2023-26. He was a two-time MIAC Swimmer of the Year (2025 and 2026) and a two-time All-American in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

He swam an MIAC- and program-record time of 15:26.52 at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships to finish third with the fourth fastest time in DIII that season – a time that was nearly six full seconds faster than his 15:32.16 that he used to win his third-straight MIAC title in the event a month earlier. The third-place finish was the best by a Johnnie at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships since Luke Prokop '05 took third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2005.

He earned All-America honorable mention honors the year before with a 15th-place finish in the same event in 2025.

Slavik won all three of his individual events – the 400-yard individual medley (3:57.55), 500-yard freestyle (4:29.70) and 1,650-yard freestyle (15:32.16) – at the 2026 MIAC Championships. The titles in the 400-yard individual medley and 1,650-yard freestyle were his third-straight and the 500-yard freestyle was his second.

He holds the championship meet-, SJU- and MIAC-record in the 1,650-yard freestyle and set SJU records for the 400-yard individual medley, 500-yard freestyle, 1,000-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Slavik was also a part of two SJU-record relays (800-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley).

He graduated with three SJU freshmen records in the 500-, 1,000-, and 1,650-yard freestyles.

He ended his conference career as a nine-time MIAC champion (eight individual and one relay) and 16-time All-MIAC honoree (top three at the conference meet). His eight individual MIAC crowns tied the program record owned by Matt Zelen '99.
