Zimmerman is in his first year as an assistant soccer coach at SJU in 2014. He joined SJU after coaching at the high school level for the last 15 years. Zimmerman was an assistant girls’ soccer coach at Sartell-St. Stephen from 2000-06. From 2006-14 at St. Cloud Cathedral, Zimmerman was an assistant coach for the boys’ soccer team, before he was hired as the head coach, as well as an assistant within the boys’ and girls’ basketball programs with the Sabres. He earned his USSF National "E" license as well as his NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 and 2 badges.
He spent three years at SJU as a student before completing his physical-education degree at St. Cloud State in 2007. Since then, he has added a DAPE teaching license as well as started graduate school. Zimmerman is currently a teacher at Benton-Stearns Voyagers in Sauk Rapids, a special-education school.
Zimmerman and his wife, Jennie, reside in Sartell with their daughter, Michaela, and dogs, Bear and Jake.
