Bio
• Haugen (Hoh-gen) completed his 48th and final season as the Johnnies' baseball head coach in 2024-25. Haugen ends his coaching career with a 916-736-5 (.554) career record. He will serve as coach emeritus in 2026.

2025 Season
• SJU finished third in the MIAC with a 14-6 record (25-16 overall) and made its 15th-consecutive appearance in the MIAC Tournament (17th overall). He recorded his 900th win March 26 in his team's doubleheader sweep of Northwestern. 

2024 Season
• SJU tied for second in the MIAC with a 13-7 record (24-16 overall) and made its 14th-consecutive appearance in the MIAC Tournament (16th overall). He recorded his 500th MIAC win April 27 in his team's doubleheader sweep of St. Scholastica. 

2023 Season
• Saint John’s baseball tied for second in the MIAC with a 14-6 record (23-16 overall) and made its 13th-consecutive appearance in the MIAC Tournament in 2023. 

2022 Season
• The Johnnies finished second in the MIAC with a 15-5 record (24-17 overall) and made their 12th straight appearance in the MIAC Tournament. SJU's program record for home runs (39) lasted only one season as the Johnnies hit 51.

2021 Season
• SJU tied for third in the MIAC with a 16-9 record (29-12 overall) and made its 11th consecutive appearance in the MIAC Tournament in 2021. The Johnnies set program records for consecutive wins (15) and single-season home runs (39).

• The Johnnies jumped out to a 7-1 record before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the 2020 season.

2019 Season
• The Johnnies ended the 2019 season with a 32-14 record and tied for second in the MIAC by one game with a 13-7 mark. They made their 10th consecutive appearance in the MIAC Tournament and won their fourth playoff title in the last eight seasons with a 4-1 record. SJU advanced to the NCAA Concordia Chicago Regional. 

2018 Season
• SJU went 33-8 (16-4 MIAC) in 2018 to claim the MIAC regular-season championship, the program's 14th and first since 1998. The team set school records for wins (33), fielding percentage (.974), ERA (2.73) and WHIP (1.18). Haugen earned his second Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Coach of the Year honor, and first since 1994, in 2018.

2017 Season
• The Johnnies set a then-school record for wins in 2016 with a 32-14 record (13-7 MIAC), including a 4-2 mark to finish runner-up at the NCAA Midwest Regional in La Crosse, Wis. SJU hosted the 2016 MIAC Tournament and posted a 3-0 record to earn its second consecutive MIAC Playoff Championship, and third in five years.

Accomplishments
Head Coach Jerry Haugen• Haugen has coached 139 All-MIAC performers and in 1993, he saw team MVP Jon Dold become the first SJU player in over 30 years to be drafted at the professional level.
• Haugen guided the Johnnies to a conference championship season in 1994 and 1998 and advanced for only the second time in school history to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Tournament in 1998.
• The Johnnies won their first MIAC Playoff Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history in 2012.
• The Johnnies earned their second title in four years with a 4-0 run through the losers' bracket, as the visiting team in all four games, to become just the second team to lose its opener and win the title in the 16-year history of the MIAC Tournament in 2015.
• Pitcher Joey Stock '20 signed with the Boston Red Sox in 2020 and outfielder Wyatt Ulrich '20 signed with the San Diego Padres in 2022. Ulrich was in his second season as an outfielder with the Sioux Falls (S.D.) Canaries of the independent American Association of Professional Baseball (AAPB), which transferred his contract to San Diego. He participated in the AAPB all-star game and was named the league's rookie of the year in 2021. Ulrich was second in the AAPB in hits (79) and fourth in batting (.353) at the time of his signing. He batted .337 with a .844 OPS, 116 runs scored, 30 stolen bases and 43 extra-base hits in 140 games for the Canaries. He also compiled a 29-game hit streak in 2021. 

Past Experience
• A 1976 graduate of Saint John's, Haugen has also worked as an assistant basketball coach and head hockey coach during his tenure at SJU.
• A football and baseball player during his college years at SJU, Haugen also served as defensive coordinator for the 2003 NCAA champion Johnnie football team. Haugen was named 2003 NCAA Division III Defensive Coordinator of the Year by American Football Monthly and served the Johnnies' football program as an assistant coach for 48 seasons (1976-2023).
