SJU Soccer Assistant Coaching Staff



Jimmy Walkinshaw
Walkinshaw is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Johnnies in 2023-24. He played four seasons at Ohio Northern and graduated in 2020 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Walkinshaw totaled 25 points (6g/13a) in 60 career games and was named to the OAC All-Tournament Team, an All-OAC second team honoree and earned Academic All-OAC distinction as a sophomore.

Chris Foreman
Foreman is in his sixth season as the Johnnies' goalkeeper coach in 2023-24. A 1995 graduate of SJU, Foreman manned the net for SJU from 1991-94, where he was All-Region, All-MIAC and the team's most valuable player as a senior. Following graduation from SJU, Foreman was a goalkeeper for the Des Moines Menace (USISL) during their inaugural 1994 season and a developmental goalie for the Minnesota Thunder in 1995 before he was called up to the Thunder as the team's backup. Foreman recently retired from the U.S. Army, where he held numerous posts during his 20-year career. Most recently, Foreman served as a field-grade public affairs officer with the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). He also commissioned over 450 second lieutenants as an Officer Candidate School instructor. 

Pat Haws
Haws returned to the SJU soccer coaching staff in 2012 as the program's varsity reserve coach. The winningest coach in Minnesota college men’s soccer history, Haws guided the Johnnies to a 341-140-50 (.689) record and a 218-77-31 (.716) MIAC record with seven regular-season conference titles and one MIAC playoff championship in 32 seasons. He entered the 2009 season, his final at the helm, 15th among active coaches and 19th all-time in NCAA Division III in career victories. Haws was named the MIAC Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1989 and the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 1986. In 2005, he became the first soccer coach in MIAC history to win more than 300 matches. His teams finished first or second in the MIAC 15 times, and in the 1980s, SJU ranked seventh among Division III teams with a .772 winning percentage.
