2010-11: Named to The Sporting News Preseason All-America team (honorable mention)…enters senior season needing 211 points to reach 1,000 for his career.

2009-10: Started all 26 games…averaged 35.6 minutes per game…led team in shooting percentage (.635, 132-208), assists (121), scoring (13.6 points per game) and rebounds (9.1 rebounds per game)…recorded 11 double-doubles, including two triple-doubles...led the MIAC (conference games only) in shooting percentage (.673, 107-159) and assists (4.85 assists per game)…named the MIAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week twice…named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-West Region second team…named the College Sporting News MIAC Co-Player of the Year…named All-MIAC for the second consecutive season…took part in the USA D-III All-Star Brazilian tour during August 2010. 

2008-09: Started all 26 games as a sophomore…led team with 9.1 rebounds per game…second on team with 11.3 points per game…led team in free throws made (68) and attempted (92)…tied for first with 35 steals…earned All-MIAC first-team honors…tallied a career-high 18 rebounds against Carleton on Dec. 6, 2008.

2007-08: Played in all 26 games, including 18 starts as a freshman...second on the team with 6.6 rebounds per game…averaged 5.5 points per game…earned both the Hustle and Best Passer team awards.

Personal: A 2007 graduate of Rocori High School…coached by Bob Brink…All-Conference, All-Area Honorable Mention, All-State Tournament team in 2006…member of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Central Lakes Conference championship teams at Rocori…Business Management major…brothers Rick ’04 and Mike ’07 were both student-athletes and graduates of Saint John’s…sister Bridget was a 2009 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and is third on the Gusties' all-time assist list for volleyball…son of Randy and Jeanne Burtzel of Cold Spring, Minn…born 11/16/88.
