AFCA Poll – Week 1

WACO, Texas – Saint John's University climbed three spots to No. 8 in the first American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 poll, presented by GoRout Gridiron, of the regular season released Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The Johnnies also moved up to No. 8 in the first D3football.com Top 25 poll of the regular season posted last night (Sept. 6).

Seven teams in NCAA Region 6 were ranked in the AFCA's top 25, including six in the top 15: Wisconsin-Platteville (No. 4), Wisconsin-River Falls (No. 5), Bethel (No. 7), SJU (No. 8), Wisconsin-Whitewater (No. 11), Wisconsin-La Crosse (No. 14) and Linfield (No. 23). Wisconsin-Oshkosh (8), Wisconsin-Stout (8) and Whitworth (1) received votes.

SJU returns from its bye week to host Hamline (1-0 overall) for the MIAC opener at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, in Collegeville.
