COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Frank Vascellaro is not only a familiar face to television viewers across the Upper Midwest, he was also a fixture around Saint John's football while watching his son Joe play on the Johnnie offensive line for five seasons.

He will be back in Collegeville this Saturday as the host of Johnnie GameDay – Live From Collegeville, a brand-new pregame show that debuts from 11 a.m.-noon at the SJU Tailgate. The live show will feature interviews with Johnnie coaches, student-athletes and special guests, as well as the:

-"Ring the Bell" Challenge
-Keys to victory
-Johnnie spotlight
-A tour of the legendary SJU tailgate 
-Game predictions and picks
…and a few surprises along the way.

Vascellaro co-anchors the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news on WCCO-TV CBS Minnesota Monday through Friday with his wife, Amelia Santaniello, by his side. On June 29, 2006, Vascellaro and Santaniello became the first married couple to co-anchor a daily news program in the Twin Cities.

He has been an anchor in the Twin Cities since 1996. Before coming to Minnesota, Vascellaro worked at WAND-TV in Decatur, Ill. and at WHOI-TV in Peoria, Ill. as an anchor/reporter.

The Society of Professional Journalists recognized Vascellaro with its broadcast award for Investigative Reporting in 2008. He was awarded the 2011 and 2012 Regional Emmy for Best Anchor.
