SARTELL, Minn. – Saint John's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Macalester on Thursday, April 23, at Sta-Fit.

Today's match was originally scheduled to be played at the Scots' Hayden Courts in St. Paul but was moved indoors to Sta-Fit in Sartell due to the weather forecast of rain and cooler temperatures.

The duo of senior Taylor Duncan (Benson, Minn.) and freshman Jack Gangl (Elk River, Minn.) recorded the lone doubles win for SJU (2-10, 1-6 MIAC) at No. 3, 6-3.

A pair of sophomores won at Nos. 4-5 singles. Cole Haabala (Alexandria, Minn.) picked up a straight-set victory at No. 4 – 6-3 and 6-3 – and Andrew Eckmann (Eagan, Minn./Two Rivers) came out ahead in his super-breaker at No. 5, 10-8.

Gangl suffered a 14-12 defeat to the Scots (10-9, 4-4 MIAC) in the super-breaker at No. 6.

SJU travels to face Bethel for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, April 25, at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex in Arden Hills.
