A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's junior Cole Stencel (Mapleton, Minn./Maple River) earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the mile run two weeks ago (March 14) at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala.

Stencel was between ninth and 10th for the race's first five laps before a 28.95-second lap bumped him to seventh. He stayed in seventh with his best lap time – 28.07 – and slipped to eighth in 4:16.00.

He claimed third in the first of two heats and eighth overall in the previous day's prelim to qualify for the final.

Stencel is the first Johnnie to earn All-America honors in the event and the 20th overall indoors (20 Johnnies now combine for 26 All-America honors in indoor track and field).

WHO WILL BE HERE: The Bennies and Johnnies are scheduled to be joined Saturday by Concordia-Moorhead, Crown, Gustavus Adolphus, Division II Jamestown (N.D.), Martin Luther, Minnesota-Morris, Northwestern, St. Catherine, St. Scholastica, Division I St. Thomas, Division II Southwest Minnesota State, NAIA Valley City State (N.D.), Wisconsin-River Falls and Wisconsin-Superior.
