CSC Release

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Six Saint John's student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District at-large team on Tuesday, June 17.

The six Johnnies honored were sophomore hockey forward Jackson Bisson (Edina, Minn.), senior hockey forward Cody Carlson (Buffalo, Minn.), senior hockey forward Matt DeRosa (Alpharetta, Ga.), junior golfer Tim Fultz (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area), senior wrestler D.J. Myles (Dayton, Minn./Champlin Park) and senior hockey forward Jackson Sabo (Rosemount, Minn.).

Each institution may nominate up to six student-athletes for Academic All-District recognition in the at-large category, which includes men's fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Nominees must be a sophomore or older with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher. Athletically, golf nominees must have competed in 70 percent of the team's total varsity events that were team scoring events, hockey nominees must have competed in 90 percent of the team's total games or have started 66 percent of the total and wrestling nominees must have competed in 70 percent of the team's events that were scored.

The CSC honor is the second-consecutive for DeRosa and Sabo, who are expected to receive Academic All-MIAC recognition (minimum 3.5 GPA) for the third time later this month.

A global business leadership major with a 3.55 GPA, Fultz was the 2024-25 MIAC Elite 22 Award recipient in golf for having the highest cumulative GPA among the student-athletes who finished in the top 10 at the MIAC Championships in October. He earned All-MIAC honors after totaling a three-round score of 217 (+1) to finish fourth at the MIAC Championships. Fultz led SJU with two medalist honors and finished second on the team with a 74.0 average in 24 rounds, which was good for fourth-best in the MIAC, including a 73.0 average (+1.88/round) in eight rounds this spring.

The Johnnie golf team tied for second at the MIAC Championships and recorded its fourth-best scoring average in program history – a 296.0 in 24 rounds – this season. Senior Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) became the second Johnnie to qualify as an individual to the NCAA Division III Championships and the first since 2015 (Ryan Gallagher '17) in May.

A computer science major with a 3.66 GPA, DeRosa served as the Johnnies' captain and finished third on the team in both points (14) and assists (10) in 2024-25. He and classmate Spencer Rudrud (Eden Prairie, Minn.) were the lone Johnnies who played all 26 games this season. DeRosa was All-MIAC honorable mention in 2023-24 after he led the team in goals (8), tied for first in plus/minus (+6) and was second in points (13). He ended his collegiate career with 43 points (19g/24a) and a +21 in 93 games.

Sabo totaled seven points (2g/5a) in 23 games and graduated in May with a 3.79 GPA in accounting. He assisted DeRosa as a team captain this season, was a two-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar and posted 29 points (11g/18a) and five game-winning goals in 71 career contests.

Carlson joined DeRosa and Sabo at commencement with a 3.58 GPA in global business leadership. He posted nine points (2g/7a) in 22 games and completed his SJU career with 27 points (6g/21a) in 68 contests.

An exercise and health science major with a 3.61 GPA, Bisson tied for first on the team with 10 goals, including four on the power play, and tied for fifth in points (13) in 2024-25. He has 23 points (13g/10a) in 44 career games through his first two seasons as a Johnnie.

SJU tied for third in the MIAC with an 8-7-1 record (11-14-1 overall) and made its seventh MIAC Playoff appearance in the last nine seasons in 2024-25.

Myles graduated in May with a perfect 4.0 GPA in global business leadership. He was a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American this season and was a two-sport student-athlete all four years as he joined the Johnnie wrestling program during the second half of the season following his role as a linebacker on SJU's nationally ranked football team. Myles was the 2024 MIAC Elite 22 Award recipient in football for having the highest cumulative GPA among the student-athletes who participated in the MIAC championship game and was a three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree in football (wrestling is not an MIAC-sponsored sport). He finished eighth at 197 pounds at the 2025 NCAA Regional to end his senior season with a 9-9 record and closed his collegiate career with a 35-31 record and 16 pins.

Five Johnnies placed in the top eight as SJU finished 10th out of 16 teams at the NCAA Regional. Two Johnnies – freshman Thomas Holmquist (Mendota Heights, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) and sophomore Connor Krueger (Superior, Wis.) – just missed a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships with fourth-place finishes at their respective weights. The top three in each weight class advanced to nationals.
