SJU Finishes Fourth at NCAA Outdoor Championships

GENEVA, Ohio –No. 9 Saint John's track and field recorded four top-three performances and finished fourth out of 73 teams at the final day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 24, at the SPIRE Institute.

Wisconsin-La Crosse won its second-straight outdoor team title (17th overall) with 84 points, followed by Wisconsin-Eau Claire (56), Rowan (44.5), SJU (39.5), Wisconsin-Oshkosh (39) and Bethel (35). The team finish was SJU's best since 2007, when it tied for fourth out of 79 teams.

The Johnnies collected a program-record six top-eight finishes across the three-day meet and seven total All-America performances. The previous high of five was achieved in 2007, 2008 and 2021.

Senior Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) and freshman Max Reis (West Fargo, N.D./Spectrum) finished second (10.17) and third (10.35), respectively, in the 100-meter dash. The time enabled Arthur to break his own SJU record and served as the third-fastest in Division III history, while Reis' was a personal best and tied for 16th in Division III history. La Crosse's Sam Blaskowski won the national title in 10.14 seconds.

Seventy minutes later, Arthur returned to the track and collected his second national runner-up finish of the day with a time of 21.18 seconds in the 200-meter dash for his eighth All-America performance. Again, it was Blaskowski leading the way with a time of 20.35 seconds for the crown.

The Johnnies' 4x100-meter relay – senior Emanuel Popoca (Minneapolis, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy), Arthur, sophomore Kieran Murnan (Lakeville, Minn./Holy Angels) and Reis – started the day by becoming the fifth program in Division III history to record a sub-40-second time to finish third in 39.87 seconds. The time is good for fourth-fastest in Division III history. UWL won the national title with a meet-record time of 39.66 seconds and Rowan (N.J.) was second at 39.72.
