DES MOINES, Iowa – The Saint John's 4x100-meter relay broke the program record at the final day of the Drake Relays on Saturday, April 26.

The Johnnies' relay – consisting of (in order) junior Aidan Morey (Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep), senior Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park), sophomore Kieran Murnan (Lakeville, Minn./Holy Angels) and freshman Max Reis (West Fargo, N.D./Spectrum) – finished third out of six teams in the college division with a time of 40.28 seconds.

SJU's relay time is the 17th-fastest (10th-fastest program) in NCAA Division III history and shattered the previous school record of 40.65, set in 2022 (Jack Young, Arthur, Brady Labine, Ryan Miller), by .37 of a second. The foursome claimed second out of 34 teams in Friday morning's prelims with a time of 40.68 seconds.

The feat was SJU's second broken record of the meet, after 4x800-meter relay finished fifth out of 19 teams with a time of 7:35.84 on Thursday. The time was the 17th-fastest in NCAA Division III history and topped the previous school record of 7:38.60 set in 1971 (Brian Racette, Bill Seidl, Greg Cook, Chuck Way).

Individually on Saturday, Arthur took fifth – into the wind (-2.1 m/s) – in the all-divisions 100-meter dash with a time of 10.60 seconds. He placed fifth out of 25 sprinters in Friday's prelims with a time of 10.41 seconds to qualify for the final.

Junior Mitchell Degen (Brainerd, Minn.) finished fifth in the all-divisions javelin thanks to a mark of 57.76 meters on his sixth and final attempt.

Gustavus Adolphus Drake Alternative

Senior Joe Mensen (Hudson, Wis./Hill-Murray) led the way in second place with a personal-best toss of 50.61 meters in the hammer throw. Senior Jaeden Frost (Omro, Wis.) and freshman Alex Wimmer (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) followed Mensen in fourth (44.81m) and fifth (44.10m), respectively.

Sophomore Bashir Amoud (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) took third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.91) and senior Joey Moberg (St. Paul, Minn./Johnson) was fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.34).

SJU begins another three-meet week with Hamline's Meet of the Unsaintly at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in St. Paul. A handful of Johnnies then compete at the two-day MIAC Decathlon Thursday-Friday, May 1-2, at Carleton and the St. Olaf Ole Open is scheduled for noon on Saturday, May 3.
