COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's track and field won 12 events and recorded 27 top-three marks/times at its CSB/SJU Easter Meet on Thursday, April 17, in Clemens Stadium.
Senior
Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) won the 200-meter dash in 21.36 seconds and freshman
Max Reis (West Fargo, N.D./Spectrum) was close behind in second (21.71).
Senior
Jackson McDowell (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) took first in the high jump with a mark of 2.05 meters and sophomore
Kieran Murnan (Lakeville, Minn./Holy Angels) won the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 10.96 seconds.
Junior
Josh Johnston (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) and sophomore
Andrew Withuski (Wahpeton, N.D.) tied for the title in the pole vault with a height of 4.57 meters. Junior
Kole Guth (St. Peter, Minn.) was third (4.42 meters).
Junior
Mitchell Degen (Brainerd, Minn.) tossed a first-place distance of 57.80 meters in the javelin and freshman
Alex Wimmer (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) followed in third (41.37 meters).
Sophomore
Bangaly Kaba (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) led the triple jumpers with a first-place mark of 13.20 meters and freshman
Anthony Sletta (St. James, Minn.) was third (12.77 meters). Sletta also claimed third with a season-best distance of 6.83 meters in the long jump.
Senior
Tommy Allen (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Academy) led six Johnnies in succession to win the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 1:54.49, while sophomore
Vincent Kaluza (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) led seven Johnnies, uncontested, in the steeplechase with a time of 9:45.88.
Senior
Aidan Thomas (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) crossed the finish line first in the 1,500 meters (4:31.98) and sophomore
Cooper Smith (Alvarado, Minn./East Grand Forks) matched him in the 400-meter hurdles (55.30). Another sophomore,
Wyatt Witschen (Monticello, Minn.), placed first in the 400-meter dash (50.56) and senior
Ryan Conzemius (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) was third (51.62).
Senior
A.J. Skinner (Rogers, Minn.) and sophomore
Peyton Martinek (Coon Rapids, Minn.) went 1 (33:40.98)-2 (34:12.37) out of three participants in the evening's final event on the track, the 10,000 meters.
The Johnnies' 4x400-meter relay (Witschen, Allen, Smith, Montreuil) took first place with a time of 3:21.05, while SJU's backup 4x100-meter relay (Popoca, Ferrante, Sesay, Morey) took second (42.66) by 0.03 of a second.
The Johnnies are scheduled to compete at three meets next week: the Minnesota Invitational at 11 a.m. Wednesday (April 23) in Minneapolis; the three-day Drake Relays on Thursday-Saturday (April 24-26) in Des Moines, Iowa; and Gustavus Adolphus' Drake Alternative at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (April 26) in St. Peter.
