Third Period Tilts to Gustavus in 3-0 Loss

ST. PETER, Minn. – Gustavus Adolphus broke a scoreless stalemate with three third-period goals to hand Saint John's a 3-0 loss on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Joey Gimberlin scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for Gustavus (13-7-1, 9-2-1 MIAC) 8:31 into the third period and connected with Drew Holt on a long saucer pass for a short breakaway goal with 3:15 to play. Nate Stone ended the game's scoring with an empty-net goal at the 18:06 mark.

The win was the Gusties' first over Saint John's (8-12-1, 5-6-1 MIAC) since Feb. 16, 2018 (2-1 in St. Peter).

Senior goaltender Bailey Huber (Mahtomedi, Minn.) made 28 saves in the loss as GAC recorded a 31-25 edge in shots.

The Johnnies return home to host Augsburg (7-13-1, 3-8-1 MIAC) at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
