Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) finished 15th out of 20 sprinters in the 60-meter dash prelims on Friday, March 8, at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Arthur placed fourth in the third and final heat with a time of 6.86 seconds, 0.04 from eighth and the final qualifying time for Saturday's event final, to earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) second-team All-America honors. Each of the three heat winners and the next best five times overall, after tie-breaking, earned first-team All-America honors and qualified for tomorrow's final.
Arthur broke his own program record in the event with a time of 6.78 seconds Feb. 16 at Division II MSU-Mankato's Maverick Invitational. The time edged Arthur's own record of 6.79 seconds that he collected Feb. 3 at Division I Minnesota's Gopher Classic and tied him for the sixth-fastest time in Division III.
The USTFCCCA added the All-America second team in 2024 to include individuals placed ninth through 16th, as well as members of ninth- and 10th-place relays.
The performance concludes the 2024 indoor season for the Johnnies, who open the outdoor schedule by hosting the SJU Optimistic Invitational on Thursday, March 28, in Clemens Stadium.
