D3football.com Poll - Week 5
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University vaulted two spots to No. 3 in the latest D3football.com Top 25 poll released on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Eight teams in NCAA Region 6 were ranked in the top 25, including five in the top 15: SJU (No. 3), Wisconsin-River Falls (No. 4), Wisconsin-Whitewater (No. 10), Wisconsin-Platteville (No. 11), Wisconsin-La Crosse (No. 12), Whitworth (No. 18), Wisconsin-Oshkosh (No. 20) and Linfield (No. 23). Bethel received votes.
The Johnnies rushed for 249 yards, including 136 yards and a touchdown on just 15 carries (9.1 avg.) from junior running back
Caden Wheeler (Andover, Minn.), yesterday (Oct. 5) in a 45-20 Homecoming win over Augsburg.
Senior quarterback
Aaron Syverson (Minnetonka, Minn.) passed for 256 yards and four touchdowns to become the MIAC's all-time leader in passing touchdowns - 80 - in conference play. Junior wide receiver
Dylan Wheeler (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View) caught seven of Syverson's passes for 96 yards and three scores.
The Johnnie defense, meanwhile, held the Auggies to two rushing yards on 24 attempts and recorded five sacks.
SJU (4-0, 2-0 MIAC) travels to face Concordia (3-1, 2-0 MIAC) for a 1 p.m. kickoff this Saturday, Oct. 12, at Jake Christiansen Stadium in Moorhead.
