COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's senior linebacker
Hayden Sanders (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) was named to D3football.com's National Team of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Sanders totaled seven tackles, including 3.5 for a loss, 1.0 sack and a forced fumble in the third-ranked Johnnies' 34-0 shutout of Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday (Oct. 26) in Collegeville. He leads the Johnnies in solo tackles (25) and tackles for loss (9.5), is second in total tackles (44) and third in sacks (4.5).
SJU's defense currently leads NCAA Division III in sacks (4.57 spg.) and is sixth nationally against the run (48.4 ypg.).
SJU (7-0, 5-0 MIAC, 2-0 Northwoods) travels to face St. Scholastica (2-5, 1-4 MIAC, 0-3 Northwoods) for a 1 p.m. kickoff this Saturday, Nov. 2, at Walt Hunting Stadium (formerly Public Schools Stadium) in Duluth.
