COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – No. 6 Gustavus Adolphus pulled away with four goals in the second half en route to a 5-0 win over Saint John's on Friday, Oct. 11, at Haws Field.

Owen Johnson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for GAC (10-0-2, 5-0-1 MIAC) in the 28th minute for a 1-0 halftime lead.

Joe Flory made it 2-0 with his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 59th minute and Jared Hecht – who scored all four goals for the Gusties against SJU last fall in a pair of 2-0 victories – extended the lead to 3-0 in the 73rd minute.

Matt Carlson and Nick James ended the scoring with goals 1:43 apart in the 83rd and 85th minutes, respectively.

Senior goalkeeper Evan Siefken (Lakeville, Minn./North) made eight saves in the loss for SJU (3-5-1, 1-3-1 MIAC).

GAC posted a 17-8 advantage in shots – 13-3 on net – and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. The two teams combined for nine yellow cards.

The Johnnies travel to face Concordia for a 4 p.m. match on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Moorhead.
