COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Eleven Saint John's University student-athletes were named to the 2023 National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday, April 12.
A record-total of 1,745 student-athletes from 328 schools (FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA) qualified for membership in the society's 17th year.
To qualify, student-athletes must be either a starter or a significant substitute in one's last year of eligibility, achieve a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and meet all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
SJU is one of 22 college football programs, one of two from Division III (Johns Hopkins), that have had at least one honoree in all 17 years of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
Those honored (listed alphabetically) in 2023 include:
-Senior defensive lineman
Jonah Becken (Hudson, Wis.), a physics major;
-Senior linebacker
Erik Bjork (Mahtomedi, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Senior defensive lineman
Jaeden Frost (Omro, Wis.), a nutrition major;
-Senior defensive lineman
Nick Harris (Big Lake, Minn.), an exercise and health science major (pre-physical therapy emphasis);
-Senior offensive lineman
Joe Jaeger (Lakeville, Minn./North), an applied physics major (pre-engineering emphasis);
-Senior cornerback
John Kohler (Birchwood, Wis./Rice Lake), an integrative science major (pre-medicine emphasis);
-Senior linebacker
Sam Lewison (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview), a biochemistry major (pre-physician's assistant emphasis);
-Senior linebacker
Chad Mrachek (Orono, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Senior linebacker
Joe Rossebo (Woodbury, Minn.), a Hispanic studies major (pre-physical therapy emphasis);
-Senior wide receiver
Nick VanErp (Battle Lake, Minn./Ottertail Central), a political science and psychology double-major;
-Senior defensive lineman
Michael Wozniak (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong), an accounting major.
Of the 11 honorees, five intend to return thanks to the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic: Bjork, Jaeger, Lewison, Rossebo and VanErp.
Five 2022 inductees played for SJU during the 2022 season because of that extra year of eligibility:

Cameron Murphy (Willmar, Minn.), a global business leadership major;

Brandon Sutton (Rice Lake, Wis.), a biology major;

Henry Trost (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes), a global business leadership major.
