Johnnies End Spring-Break Trip With Shutout Loss

Box Score

FT. MYERS, Fla. – Saint John's baseball ended its spring-break trip with a 9-0 loss to Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday, March 11.

The Johnnies (4-6 overall) registered one hit – a two-out single from junior designated hitter Owen Best (Aurora, Colo./Regis Jesuit) in the sixth inning – in the loss.

Harrison Boushele, a junior who also hails from Aurora, Colo., did the rest for the Vikings (9-2 overall), who are receiving votes in the latest D3baseball.com poll. He struck out 10 and walked five in the complete-game shutout.

Augustana broke open a 1-0 game with five runs in the fourth inning. SJU, which was without its leading hitter – senior Max Nyrop (.421; Alameda, Calif.) – had two men on with one out in the fourth inning and left the bases loaded in the sixth.

Sophomore lefty Will Fazio (Minneapolis, Minn./Blake) took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits in 3.1 innings. Senior Cade Marsolek (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) allowed two hits over the final two scoreless innings in relief.

The Johnnies were scheduled to visit Northwestern for a doubleheader this Tuesday, March 14, in Roseville, but the forecast calls for temperatures in the low 30's.
