SJU Ends Hockey Season With 3-1 Loss in MIAC Semifinals

Box Score

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's hockey ended its 2022-23 season with a 3-1 loss at Augsburg in the MIAC semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 25.

The Auggies (15-9-2, 10-5-1 MIAC) broke a scoreless tie with a pair of goals in the second period, to go-ahead tally from Vincent Weis 4:18 into the frame and a shorthanded goal from Austin Dollimer at the 12:14 mark.

Junior forward Max Borst (Edina, Minn.), who was playing his first game since Feb. 2 due to injury, cut the Johnnies' (13-10-3, 9-5-2 MIAC) deficit in half on a power-play goal with 9:42 remaining in regulation. Dollimer, however, scored his 12th goal of the season (and team-leading 30th point) 2:15 later.

SJU had the extra attacker on the ice with sophomore goaltender Bailey Huber (Mahtomedi, Minn.), who made 23 saves, on the bench for the final 3:20 but could not find the back of the net.

The Johnnies finished with a 35-26 advantage in shots, including an 18-7 barrage in the third period.
