Box Score

ST. PETER, Minn. – Saint John's soccer suffered a 2-0 loss at No. 23 Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, Oct. 6.

SJU (5-3-3, 2-2-1 MIAC) posted a 5-3 advantage in shots, 4-1 on goal, in the first half but the Gusties (4-2-4, 2-2-2 MIAC) turned the tide after halftime and gained the win thanks to a pair of goals from Jared Hecht.

Hecht's first tally came in the 68th minute, which ended junior goalkeeper Evan Siefken's (Lakeville, Minn./North) shutout streak at 294:54, and added another for good measure 1:53 later. GAC totaled a 10-4 shot margin (9-1 on net) in the second half.

Siefken finished with seven saves in the loss. Sophomore Sam Steil (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) made one save in the game's final 20:02.

The Johnnies return home to host Concordia at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Haws Field.
