SJU Soccer Ends Season With 2-0 Loss in MIAC Playoffs

ST. PETER, Minn. – Saint John's soccer ended its 2023 season with a 2-0 loss at Gustavus Adolphus in the MIAC quarterfinals on Monday, Oct. 30.

Jared Hecht scored both goals for Gustavus (9-3-6, 5-2-3 MIAC). The first came 4:02 into the game and the second was with 4:43 remaining. Hecht scored both goals in the Gusties' 2-0 win over SJU (7-7-4, 4-4-2 MIAC) earlier this season on Oct. 6 in St. Peter.

Junior goalkeeper Evan Siefken (Lakeville, Minn./North) made nine saves in the loss to finish with a 6-6-4 record.

SJU posted a 9-6 advantage in shots (3-3 on goal) in the first half, but the home team totaled a 15-1 margin (8-1 on net) after intermission. Corner kicks were event at 4-4. 

Sophomore forward Riley Buxell (Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area) led SJU with three shots, while the sophomore Hermanson (St. Paul, Minn./Holy Angels) twins, Carter and Noah, added two apiece.
