2022 SJU Football Schedule
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Saint John's University football program finalized its 2022 schedule with the addition of Wisconsin-River Falls as its second non-conference game, head coach
Gary Fasching '81 announced Thursday, April 21.
SJU will host six regular-season home games for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
Season-ticket renewals open on Monday, May 2, and to the general public on June 13.
Originally announced last summer as SJU's week-two opponent this fall, the Johnnies will instead open the 2022 season with a 1 p.m. kickoff against Wisconsin-Whitewater Sept. 3 in Clemens Stadium. SJU travels to Whitewater, Wis., for the return game on Sept. 9, 2023.
SJU follows the season opener with a home game against another member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), Wisconsin-River Falls, Sept. 10.
"With the addition of UW-River Falls to our schedule, we will play three nationally ranked teams in our first three games of the 2022 season," Fasching said. "In my 27 years of coaching here at Saint John's, this will be by far our most challenging schedule. Our student-athletes and coaches are looking forward to the 2022 season and another exciting year of Saint John's Football."
The Johnnies are 31-13 (.705) all-time against current members of the WIAC, including a 25-6 (.806) record during the regular season.
SJU is 1-4 all-time against UWW, with the Johnnies' win occurring in the series' lone home and regular-season meeting held in 2002 (a score of 42-18). The other four matchups were on the road in different rounds of the NCAA Division III playoffs: first round (2008, 7-37); second round (2005, 7-34); quarterfinal round (2006, 14-17); and semifinal round (2019, 32-35). The two programs are in Division III's top three for most wins since 1990 (
see below) and combine for 10 national titles: SJU (1963, 1965, 1976, 2003) and UWW (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014).

The Warhawks won their 38th WIAC title with a perfect 7-0 record (13-1 overall) and reached the national semifinals last fall. UWW was ranked No. 3 nationally in the final polls.
River Falls tied a program record with nine wins (9-2 record), including a 5-2 mark to finish third in the WIAC, and ended the season with a 48-27 win over Washington (Mo.) in the inaugural Culver's Isthmus Bowl.
