15 Johnnies Inducted into NFF’s Hampshire Honor Society

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Fifteen Saint John's University student-athletes were named to the 2022 National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday, April 13.

A total of 1,559 student-athletes from 313 schools (FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA) qualified for membership in the society's 16th year.

To qualify, student-athletes must be either a starter or a significant substitute in one's last year of eligibility, achieve a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and meet all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.

SJU is one of 25 college football programs that have had at least one honoree in all 16 years of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society. 

Those honored (listed alphabetically) in 2022 include: 

-Defensive back Colton Arne (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield), a biology major (pre-chiropractic emphasis);
-Defensive back Tommy Deters (Maple Plain, Minn./Orono), a global business leadership major;
-Linebacker Mitch Gerlach (Cloquet, Minn.), an accounting major;
-Running back Carter Huberty (Avon, Minn./Albany), a computer science major;
-Linebacker Ethan Hylla (Holdingford, Minn./Albany), an economics major;
-Tight end Joe Lang (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower), an accounting major;
-Wide receiver Matt Mohr (Chisago City, Minn./Chisago Lakes), a global business leadership major;
-Defensive lineman Erik Moline (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice), an elementary education major;
-Defensive lineman Seth Morem (Red Wing, Minn.), an accounting major;
-Offensive lineman Cameron Murphy (Willmar, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Linebacker Roman Ogren (Stillwater, Minn./Hill-Murray), a global business leadership major;
-Linebacker Carter Seymour (New Prague, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Defensive back Brandon Sutton (Rice Lake, Wis.), a biology major;
-Running back Henry Trost (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes), a global business leadership major;
-Running back Devin Vouk (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen), a sociology major.

Four 2021 inductees played for SJU during the 2021 season due to the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic:

-Quarterback Chris Backes (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech), an economics major;
-Offensive lineman Jarod Fike (White Bear Lake, Minn.), a communication and English double-major;
-Defensive lineman Collin Franz (Otsego, Minn./Rogers), a Hispanic studies major;
-Offensive lineman Tyler Johnson (Willmar, Minn.), a mathematics major.
