PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - No. 4 North Central (Ill.) handed Saint John's baseball an 18-0 loss on Friday, March 11, at Centennial Park in Port Charlotte, Fla.
The Cardinals (8-0 overall) batted .643 (9-for-14) with runners in scoring position,.500 (12-for-24) with runners on base and .529 (9-for-17) with two outs in the victory.
SJU (5-7 overall), meanwhile, went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position, 2-for-19 with runners on base and 2-for-11 with two outs.
NCC hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, scoring four runs in the third, two each in the fourth and fifth, and broke the game open with a seven-run sixth.
Sophomore
Kody Dalen (Carver, Minn./Chanhassen) took the loss, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits. He struck out seven and walk three in four innings.
Senior
Ethan Roe (Golden Valley, Minn./Blake) went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the SJU offense, which was out-hit by an 18-7 margin.
