Young Finishes 40th, Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Saint John's junior Lloyd Young (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) earned All-America honors with a 40th-place finish out of 294 runners at the 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Forest Akers G.C. in East Lansing, Mich.

Young finished third among the MIAC competitors with a time of 25:37. He was 172nd (5:08) at the 1-mile mark, 99th (10:16) at two miles, 52nd (14:45) at 4.6k, 32nd (19:48) at 6.3k and 28th (22:09) at 7k. 

St. Olaf's Logan Bocovich crossed the finish line eighth (25:09) and another Ole, Will Kelly, placed 13th (25:16). Alex Phillip of John Carroll (Ohio) won the race for the second consecutive season in 24:37.

The All-America honor is the 25th in program history and the Johnnies' first since Chris Erichsen '08 in 2007 (third place). Young finished 52nd (24:31) at last year's NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky.
