SJU Adjusts Spectator Policy for Home Basketball Games

1/9/2022 5:05:00 PM

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Saint John's University has updated the spectator policy for its home basketball games in Sexton Arena.

This temporary spectator policy will be revisited as CSB/SJU monitors the impact of COVID-19 and the omicron variant on our campus community.

Spectator policies for SJU's other winter sports - hockey, swimming and diving, indoor track and field, wrestling - will be announced ahead of the sport's next scheduled home event.

SJU's spectator policy and venue capacities are subject to change and are reviewed daily based on the latest Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) COVID-19 protocols.

SJU's Spectator Policy for Basketball Games in Sexton Arena
-Masks are required at all times (this has been the policy all season long).

-Spectators must maintain 6 feet of social distancing (and 12 feet from student-athletes/coaches/staff).

-Capacity will be reduced to 70 percent. Seating will be staggered by section, every-other row, for social distancing.

-Fans/parents must sit within their family or friend group and should remain in their seats for the duration of the event (no moving seats, socializing, etc.).

-Fans will not be allowed to gather with the student-athletes at the conclusion of the game.

-The concession stand will not be open.

Tickets
-Advanced tickets sales encouraged on www.gojohnnies.com/tickets for all fans. General tickets will also be for sale at the ticket booth.

-CSB/SJU students need to download their free ticket to each home game from www.gojohnnies.com/tickets with their Banner ID.

Fans with any COVID-19, cold or flu symptoms are asked to not enter the venue.

If anyone is unable or uncomfortable to attend the game in person, SJU encourages fans to watch it online at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/csbsju.

SJU basketball (9-2, 7-0 MIAC) returns to action Monday, Jan. 10, with a 7 p.m. home game against St. Olaf in Sexton Arena.
