ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John's baseball completed the three-game sweep of Hamline with a 10-5 win, the team's 13 consecutive, on Sunday, May 2, at CHS Field in St. Paul.
The Johnnies (25-8, 15-7 MIAC) took advantage of eight free passes (five walks and two hit batsmen) and collected nine hits, including four doubles in the victory.

Matt Hayford (Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) put SJU on the scoreboard first on an RBI single with two outs in the second inning, before the Johnnies erupted for five runs in the fourth. Freshman outfielder

Ethan Roe (Golden Valley, Minn./Blake), who ripped a leadoff double, and freshman outfielder
Rodney Erickson (St. Paul, Minn./Woodbury) made it 3-0 with an RBI groundout. Sophomore designated hitter
Max Nyrop (Alameda, Calif.) extended his hit streak to 13 games with a bases-clearing double.
The Pipers (10-19, 5-11 MIAC) answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, but SJU retaliated with three runs – all scoring on either a passed ball or wild pitch – on one hit in the top of the fifth.
An RBI double from Schleper, his third hit of the game, made it 10-2 in the sixth before HU added a run in its half of the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Sophomore
Cade Marsolek (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) picked up the win, improving to 2-0, by allowing three runs on six hits in six innings.

Matt Herold (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) surrendered two runs in two innings of relief, while sophomore
Casey Trapp Blaine, Minn./Centennial) gave up one hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth.
Hayford and Nyrop collected two hits apiece, while
Ethan Roe crossed the plate four times. Nyrop batted .667 (8-for-12) with six RBI, five runs, three doubles and a homer in the three games. Schleper produced a team-high seven RBI, while batting .455 (5-for-11) with two homers, a double and three runs.
The Johnnies play host to Minnesota-Morris (5-17, 3-9 UMAC) for a 9-inning, non-conference game at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Becker Park.
