COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Saint John's track and field won 11 events in a 102-47 dual meet victory over Concordia on Sunday, Feb. 28, in the Donald McNeely Spectrum.
The Johnnies recorded 34 top-three finishes/marks on the day.
Junior
Eli Mollet (Jefferson, S.D./Bishop Heelan Catholic) matched his personal best to win the weight throw with a toss of 16.94 meters. The mark is currently tied for 17th in NCAA Division III.
Senior
Ryan Miller (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) crossed the finish line first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.08 seconds. Sophomore
Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) recorded the fastest time in the prelim, 7.10 seconds, and took second in the final (7.19).
Six Johnnies competed uncontested in the 60-meter hurdles and were led by sophomore
Jared Stanke (Anoka, Minn./Elk River) in a season-best 8.89 seconds. Eight Johnnies did the same in the pole vault, where senior
Drew Dockendorf (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Holdingford) posted a season-best height of 4.60 meters, which is good for 13th in Division III.
SJU claimed the top four times in the 200-meter dash, as junior
Jack Young (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) edged Arthur (23.16) with a season-best time of 23.05 seconds. Young also finished third in the 60-meter dash (7.24).
Sophomores
Alexei Hensel (Buffalo, Minn.) and
Mitch Grand (Hutchinson, Minn.) were neck-and-neck for the top two times in the mile run, 4:24.19 and 4:24.60. Two other sophomores,
Sam Rengo (Esko, Minn.) and
Nathan Clausing (Big Lake, Minn.), placed first (2:03.20) and second (2:04:19), respectively, in the 800 meters.
Sophomore
Maguire Petersen (Hutchinson, Minn.) and freshman
Logan Hennen (Prior Lake, Minn.) went 1 (6.04 meters)-2 (5.77 meters), uncontested, in the long jump, and Petersen led three Johnnies with a height of 1.85 meters in the high jump.
Freshman
Andrew Wenner (Cold Spring, Minn./Saint John's Prep) won the three-man field in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 54.67 seconds and junior
Andy Goldsmith (Tulsa, Okla./Cascia Hall) took second (9:03.05) in the 3,000 meters, 0:00.08 behind the Cobbers' Leo Smith (9:02.97).
Senior
Brady Labine (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and junior
Jacob Reding (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Eagan) placed second (36.32) and third (37.47) in the 300-meter dash.
Junior
Michael Wallace (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Anne's) finished second behind former teammate
Collin Trout '20 (14.30 meters) with a season-best distance of 13.81 meters in the triple jump.
Sophomore
Jaeden Frost (Omro, Wis.) claimed third in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 14.12 meters.
SJU's 4x400-meter relay team (

Will Mattock, Rengo) finished second (3:35.75).
The Johnnies are scheduled to wrap up their 2021 indoor season with a multi-team invitational at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, in Collegeville.
