A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: The Saint John's divers competed uncontested (vs. Hamline) last Saturday morning (Feb. 13) at the Warner Palaestra Pool. Friday's swimming competition between SJU and Hamline was postponed due to a power outage. No makeup date has been set.

Sophomore Jack Grabinski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) won both dives, improving his score from last weekend on the 1-meter board (463.90) and posted a score of 451.05 on the 3-meter.

Sophomore Christian Pfau (Williston, N.D.) finished second, and junior Leo Braun (Melrose, Minn.) third, on both dives.

A LOOK AT THE GUSTIES: Gustavus Adolphus returns to the pool, competitively, for the first time since its season-opening victory (252-26) over Hamline on Feb. 6. The two-time, reigning MIAC champions return seven All-Americans and three other All-MIAC honorees from last season's team. Senior Nolan Larson was named the MIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week following the Hamline dual thanks to his pair of individual victories and relay win: 100- (51.21) and 200-yard (1:57.94) butterfly, and 200-yard freestyle relay.

LAST YEAR: SJU dropped last year's dual meet to Gustavus Adolphus, 190-102, back on Jan. 25 (2020) in Collegeville. The swimming events took place in Collegeville, while the dives were held in St. Peter.

Grabinski finished second in the 3-meter dive (474.40), just over 10 points from first. He also took second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 481.10.

Mitchell Dockendorf '20 took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.65), half a second from first.

The trio of sophomore Timothy Belov (Medina, Minn./Wayzata), junior Steven Froehle (DuPont, Wash./Steilacoom) and Dockendorf finished in positions 2-4 in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 49.54, 49.59 and 49.63 seconds, respectively.

Sophomore Joe Koller (Savage, Minn./Shakopee) took third in the 100-yard backstroke (57.18), 0.06 of a second from second place. Junior Spencer Atkinson (Cold Spring, Minn./Litchfield) finished 0.51 seconds later to take fourth (57.69). Atkinson also finished third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.95.
