ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John's swimming and diving recorded 14 top-three marks/times in a dual loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, Nov. 20, at St. Catherine's Butler Center Pool in St. Paul.
Freshman
Liam Noble (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) led the Johnnies with a pair of wins in the 50- (22.15) and 100-yard (49.43) freestyles, while junior
Jack Grabinski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) won the 3-meter dive (285.30) and took third on the 1-meter board (251.17).
Junior
Joe Koller (Savage, Minn./Shakopee) and senior
Spencer Atkinson (Cold Spring, Minn./Litchfield) claimed second (53.98) and third (55.91), respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke. Koller also touched the wall second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.45).
Junior
Ethan Huber (Mitchell, S.D.) placed second with a season-best time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.66) and sophomore
Alex Heer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) took third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.63).
Freshman
Connor Thayer (Prior Lake, Minn.) finished third in both the 500- (5:10.13) and 1,000-yard (10:41.24) freestyles, while freshman
Colby Kern (Delano, Minn.) was third in the 100-yard butterfly (54.84).
The Johnnies' 400-yard freestyle relay (Atkinson,
Steven Froehle, Kern, Noble) finished second (3:17.35) and the 200-yard medley relay (Koller,
Dylan Fleischhacker, Kern, Noble) took third (1:37.78).
The Johnnies return from Thanksgiving break with the three-day Rochester Invitational, hosted by Division II St. Cloud State, on Friday-Sunday, Dec. 3-5.
