Alex Larson (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) was named to D3football.com's Team of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Larson led No. 5 SJU with six receptions for 58 yards - including the game-winning, three-yard touchdown from senior quarterback
Chris Backes (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) with one second remaining – as the Johnnies erased a 13-point deficit to win the MIAC championship with a 29-28 victory last Saturday (Nov. 13) at then-No. 12 Bethel.
Larson is tied with senior wide receiver
Ravi Alston (Lake Elsinore, Calif./Vista Murrieta) for the team lead in receiving touchdowns (7), is tied with sophomore wideout
Jimmy Buck (Orono, Minn.) for second in receptions (30) and is third in receiving yards (425) this fall.
The conference title, SJU's MIAC-record 35th, clinched the program's seventh consecutive postseason berth and 27th overall.
SJU (10-0, 8-0 MIAC) earned one of the four No. 1 seeds and plays host to No. 22/24 Lake Forest (10-0, 9-0 MWC) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs this Saturday, Nov. 20. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
