COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Saint John's soccer ended its regular-season schedule with a 1-0, overtime loss to Carleton on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Haws Field.
Despite the loss, SJU (7-8-1, 4-6-0 MIAC) earned its 11th trip to the MIAC Playoffs and eighth in the last nine seasons with St. Scholastica's 1-0 home loss to No. 10 St. Olaf earlier in the day. The Johnnies travel to face No. 19 Gustavus Adolphus (14-4, 8-2 MIAC) in the MIAC quarterfinals at noon on Monday, Nov. 1, in St. Peter. The Gusties edged SJU 1-0 last month (Sept. 24) in Collegeville.
Trevor Jones provided the heroics for Carleton (11-3-2, 8-2-0 MIAC) with his second goal of the season 5:25 into overtime.
The Knights out-shot SJU 16-8 (5-3 on goal), though the Johnnies amassed 10 corner kicks to the visitors' nine. Freshman
Evan Siefken (Lakeville, Minn./North) stopped four shots in the loss.
