A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's won 14 of the 16 events en route to a 232-35 win at Hamline last Saturday (Oct. 23) in St. Paul. Although the meet was Hamline's invitational, only the host Pipers squared off against SJU on the men's side.
Four Johnnies won multiple individual events on the afternoon. Junior
Ethan Huber (Mitchell, S.D.) took first in the 50-yard freestyle (22.88) and 100-yard breaststroke (2:21.04), and junior
Jack Grabinski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) made his season debut and swept both the 1- (259.65) and 3-meter (271.55) dives.
Freshman
Colby Kern (Delano, Minn.), the reigning (Oct. 19) MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week, took over right where he left off with wins in the 50-yard backstroke (26.37) and 500-yard freestyle (5:14.76). Freshman
Liam Noble (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) touched the wall first in the the 100- (48.86) and 200-yard (1:51.21) freestyles.
Four other Johnnies collected individual wins:

Dylan Fleischhacker (Greenwald, Minn./Melrose Area) in the 50-yard breaststroke (29.31);

Jack Mehus (Fargo, N.D./South) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:26.43).
SJU's 200-yard freestyle relay (1:28.21; Kern,
T.J. Klinkner, Noble, Larson) and 200-yard medley relay (1:40.98;
Joe Koller, Mehus, Huber,
Beau Brinkman) claimed first place.
Augsburg Invitational (Sunday, Oct. 24)
SJU made it a clean sweep for the weekend with a win out of four teams at the Augsburg Invitational on Sunday (Oct. 24) at the University of Minnesota's Jean Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. The Johnnies posted 10 top-three finishes Sunday, including two individual wins from freshmen, to collect 455 points. Carthage (Wis.) was second (384.5), followed by Carleton (368.5) and St. Olaf (245).
Noble won the 100-yard freestyle (48.40) and took second in the 50-yard freestyle (21.83). Larson touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:24.94) and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.25).
Grabinski, like Saturday's performance, won both the 1- (235.30) and 3-meter (256.40) dives.
Junior
Joe Koller (Savage, Minn./Shakopee) claimed second in the 100-yard backstroke (54.00) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.83), while sophomore
Alex Heer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.31).
Kern collected third-place finishes in the 100- (49.37) and 200-yard (1:49.49) freestyles.
SJU's 200-yard medley relay (Koller,
Dylan Fleischhacker,
Jack Mehus, Kern) finished third (1:40.31).
TWO YEARS AGO: The Johnnies won 12 of 13 events en route to a 177-36 dual victory over Macalester the last time these two programs met on Nov. 2, 2019, in St. Paul. SJU swam uncontested in five events.
A pair of freshmen - now juniors - won two events on the afternoon.
Beau Brinkman (Wayzata, Minn.) touched the wall first in the 50- (22.36) and 100-yard (49.49) freestyles, while Huber took first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.66) and 400-yard individual medley (4:28.82).
Friedrich Odermann '20 claimed first place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.63) and senior
Steven Froehle (DuPont, Wash./Steilacoom) followed suit in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.69). Junior
Dylan Fleischhacker (Greenwald, Minn./Melrose Area) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.40).
Grabinski won the 1-meter dive (288.60) and took second in the 3-meter (275.00).
SJU's 200-yard freestyle (1:38.53; Atkinson,
