MIAC Release

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – A pair of Saint John's University football student-athletes earned MIAC Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, Oct. 11.

Senior running back Henry Trost (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) rushed for 107 yards on 11 carries (9.7 avg.) - the fourth 100-yard rushing performance of his career (all in Clemens Stadium) - and four first-half touchdowns in last Saturday's 50-0 win over Augsburg to earn the MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week honor. He and the Johnnies' starting offense played the first series of the second half before taking a seat. Trost has now scored 24 touchdowns, including 20 rushing, over his last 18 games.

Senior linebacker Kyle Kornovich (Rogers, Minn.) totaled seven tackles (four solo), including two for a loss, two sacks and his first collegiate interception in the victory to receive the MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week distinction. He also recorded a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry, and is second on the team in tackles (30) and tackles for loss (4.5).

Kornovich was part of an SJU defense that posted its second consecutive shutout and held the Auggies to 27.3 percent (3-for-11) on third down. Augsburg entered the game ninth nationally on third down at 56.7 percent (34-for-60). Augsburg quarterback Cade Sheehan, the reigning (Oct. 4) MIAC Offensive Player of the Week, entered the game fifth nationally in both total offense (345.2 ypg.) and passing touchdowns (18). He finished 13 of 27 passing for 128 yards and two interceptions, and eight yards rushing on 11 attempts. Sheehan's favorite target, sophomore wide receiver Dominic Smith, was second in Division III in receiving touchdowns (9), third in receiving yards per game (136.8) and fourth in receptions per game (8.8). Smith was targeted 10 times and caught five passes for 59 yards.

The fifth-ranked Johnnies play host to St. Olaf as part of Family Weekend at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 16, in Clemens Stadium.
