USTFCCCA Release

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Five Saint John's University track and field student-athletes were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Indoor All-Americans on Tuesday, May 19.

Those honored (listed alphabetically) include:

-Junior Drew Dockendorf (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Holdingford), pole vault
-Junior Ryan Miller (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace), 60-meter dash
-Freshman Maguire Petersen (Hutchinson, Minn.), high jump
-Senior Collin Trout (Cloquet, Minn.), triple jump
-Sophomore Michael Wallace (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Anne's), triple jump

In previous seasons, the USTFCCCA awarded All-America honors to any student-athlete who score any portion of a team point (top-eight in the final of an individual event or as a member of a top-eight placing relay event) at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

This year's All-America honors were awarded to any student-athlete declared and initially accepted into his or her event as an individual or as a member of a relay. The top 20 marks/times in each individual event and the top 16 teams in each relay event advanced to the national meet, which was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dockendorf tied for the second-best mark nationally in the pole vault with a MIAC indoor- and SJU-record (indoor or outdoor) height of 5.03 meters, which he set March 7 at the Wartburg (Iowa) Qualifier. He set a MIAC Indoor Championships record with a height of 5.00 meters to win the conference title.

A two-time national entrant outdoors and an All-American (second place) last May in the 100-meter dash, Miller would have made his first NCAA indoor appearance in the 60-meter dash. He finished in a tie for 16th nationally in the event with a school-record time of 6.90 seconds, which he used to win his second consecutive MIAC title.

Petersen tied for fifth in the country with a school record, 2.10 meters, in the high jump. He finished second at the MIAC Championships with a mark of 2.01 meters.

Trout qualified for nationals in the triple jump with a leap of 14.52 meters, which he set March 7 at Wartburg. The mark was good for 13th nationally. He earned his fourth All-MIAC honor (top three individually, champion relay) in the event, third indoors, in second (14.30 meters) at the conference meet. The 2020 MIAC champion in the event, Wallace tied for 18th (14.39 meters) nationally.

The five Johnnies, and sophomore pole vaulter Shawn Schindler (Maple Grove, Minn.), earned 2020 USTFCCCA All-Central Region honors. To be selected for All-Region, a student-athlete must either be ranked in the top-five of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-three relay team.

Trout is now a four-time All-Region honoree across indoor (3) and outdoor (1) track. The 2020 indoor distinction was the second consecutive for Miller and Wallace, who both earned All-Region honors outdoors last May (Miller for the second time).
