WAVERLY, Iowa - Two Saint John's track and field student-athletes improved their season marks at the Wartburg Qualifier on Saturday, March 7, in Waverly, Iowa.
The top 20 marks/times in each event nationally qualify for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships March 13-14 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. The entrants are expected to be announced by 7 p.m. ET Sunday, March 8, on www.ncaa.com.
Junior
Drew Dockendorf (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Holdingford) won the pole vault with an SJU-record (indoor or outdoor) and season-best height of 5.03 meters (16'-6"). The mark is tied for the second-best in Division III this season.
Senior
Collin Trout (Cloquet, Minn.) won the triple jump with a 14.52 meters, which also was a season-best distance. The mark is tied for 14th nationally.
Sophomore
Eli Mollet (Jefferson, S.D./Bishop Heelan Catholic) took eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.29 meters, but it did not surpass his season-best mark of 16.94. The distance entered the day 49th nationally.
Although they did not compete Saturday, freshman
Maguire Petersen (Hutchinson, Minn.) is currently fifth nationally in the high jump (2.10 meters) and junior
Ryan Miller (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) is 13th in the 60-meter dash (6.90).
