ST. PAUL, Minn. - No. 2 Saint John's basketball moved one win closer to a regular-season conference title with an 82-59 victory - the team's 22nd in a row - at Macalester on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in St. Paul.
Nine different Johnnies scored a point, six of which registered double digits, as SJU (22-1, 18-0 MIAC) shot 51.6 percent (32-for-62) from the field and out-rebounded the Scots (7-15, 4-13 MIAC), 41-29.
Despite a .307 shooting percentage from three-point range this season, Macalester started the game 6-for-7 from behind the arc and built a 19-7 lead. SJU, however, ended the half with a 32-9 run over the final 11:45 and took a 39-28 lead into halftime.
The Scots cut their deficit to 10 (47-37) with 15:39 to play, but the Johnnies answered with a 15-0 run to put the game away.
Senior wing
Jubie Alade (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) led SJU with 13 points, 11 of which came in the first half, and added five rebounds and four assists. The 13 points lifted him past Mike Nester '02 for 11th on SJU's all-time scoring list with 1,318 career points. Two-sport star Craig Muyres '64 is 10th (1,344).

Oakley Baker (Geneva, Minn./New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva) and sophomore guard
Colton Codute (Wayzata, Minn./Orono) followed with 12 points apiece.

Zach Hanson (New Prague, Minn.), totaled 11 points and eight rebounds, while senior post
Lucas Walford (Elko, Minn./New Prague) collected 10 points and six boards. Both played 23 minutes each.
Senior guard
Sean Ryan (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) scored 10 points (2-for-2 from three-point) and senior post
Kyle Sorenson (Caledonia, Minn.) added nine points and seven boards. The duo combined for an 8-for-11 shooting night off the bench.
Jackson Henningfield posted a double-double, a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds, for the Scots thanks to a 6-for-10 showing from long range.
The Johnnies return home to host No. 4 St. Thomas (20-2, 16-1 MIAC) at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 15, in Sexton Arena.
