Johnnies Win Three Events, Place 20 in Top Five at River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Saint John's track and field won three events and registered 20 top-five marks/times on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Wisconsin-River Falls' Winter Classic.

The Johnnies' distance runners did not make Saturday's trip to the Badger State (no participants in the mile, 400, 3,000 or 5,000 meters). Team scores were not recorded.

Junior Drew Dockendorf (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Holdingford), fresh off his school-record mark of 4.88 meters set last Saturday (Jan. 25), won the pole vault with a height of 4.70 meters. Sophomore Shawn Schindler (Maple Grove, Minn.) followed in second (4.40 meters) and freshman Joe Stauffer (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) tied for third (4.10 meters).

Junior Ryan Miller (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) won the 60-meter dash in 6.99 seconds and freshman Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) followed in third (7.15).

Freshman Maguire Petersen (Hutchinson, Minn.) was the Johnnies' other event win, a mark of 2.07 meters in the high jump. Sophomore Sam Rademacher (Marshall, Minn.) claimed third (1.87 meters) and classmate Joe Anyasike (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) tied for fourth (1.82 meters).

Sophomore Omavi Collison (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Anne's) crossed the finish line second (23.26) in the 200-meter dash and freshman Alex Peters (Minneapolis, Minn./Blaine) followed in fourth (23.60).

Freshman Jared Stanke (Anoka, Minn./Elk River) and sophomore Danny Welshons (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) took third (8.79) and fourth (9.03), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles.

In the jumps, sophomore Michael Wallace (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Anne's) placed third in the long jump (6.21 meters) and freshman Michael Miller (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) finished fifth (5.91 meters). Senior Collin Trout (Cloquet, Minn.) earned a third-place mark in the triple jump (13.46 meters) and freshman Alex Crnkovich (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) followed in fourth (12.77 meters).

Sophomore Eli Mollet (Jefferson, S.D./Bishop Heelan Catholic) placed fourth in the weight throw (16.30 meters), 1.7 meters ahead of junior Ryan Murphy (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) in fifth. Murphy also finished fourth in the shot (13.85 meters).

SJU's 4x400-meter relay (Tyler Johnson, Charles Haik, Mack Maroushek, Nathan Walsh) claimed fourth (3:33.41).

The Johnnies travel to St. Paul for the Macalester Invitational at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.
