COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – No. 2 Saint John's basketball shot 57.4 percent (35-for-61) from the field and continued its dominance in the paint to record its 15th consecutive win, 90-60 over Macalester, on Monday, Jan. 20, in Collegeville.
The win was also the 99th of head coach
Pat McKenzie's five-year tenure (99-27 career record).
The Johnnies (15-1, 11-0 MIAC) moved up to No. 2, the program's highest ranking by D3hoops.com, in the latest poll released prior to Monday's game.
SJU out-rebounded the Scots (5-11, 2-9 MIAC) 42-21 and out-scored them 58-26 in the paint.
Macalester jumped out to a 9-2 lead, the Johnnies' first deficit in two weeks (Jan. 6 at St. Olaf), and the game was tied at 18-18 with 12 minutes left in the opening frame. SJU, however, made six of its next seven shots to pull away and took a 46-31 lead into the locker room.
The visitors cut their deficit to 14 (59-45) before SJU put the game away for good by making nine of its next 12 shots (23-7 scoring run).

Lucas Walford (Elko, Minn./New Prague) led SJU with 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in 22 minutes, while senior wing
Jubie Alade (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) totaled 14 points, five assists, four rebounds and two blocks.

Zach Hanson (New Prague, Minn.) was the third Johnnie in double digits with 13 points.
Jackson Henningfield led all scorers with 25 points for Mac, which shot 34.5 percent (10-for-29) in the second half to finish at 41.8 percent (23-for-55) for the game, including 25 percent (5-for-20) from behind the arc.
SJU has now won 29 of the last 31 matchups with Macalester at Sexton Arena and 28 of the last 30 meetings overall.
The Johnnies travel to face Concordia (2-13, 0-10 MIAC) for a 5:15 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in Moorhead.
