UW-Whitewater Edges SJU Soccer, 1-0

Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Wisconsin-Whitewater remained unbeaten thanks to a late goal and a 1-0 win over Saint John's on Sunday, Sept. 22, in Collegeville.

The Warhawks' (10-0-1 overall) Henry Raymonds put away a loose ball in the box in the 82nd minute for the game's lone goal. SJU (5-2-0 overall) cleared out a deep throw-in, but UWW serviced the ball back into the box, where it pinballed before finding Raymonds' foot.

Senior goalkeeper Nicholas French (Waterford, Wis.) made five saves in the loss.

SJU out-shot Whitewater, which will likely be ranked in this week's United Soccer Coaches' top 25 poll, by a 13-9 margin (7-6 on goal in favor of UWW). Fouls (10-10) and corner kicks (4-4) were both even.

The Johnnies return to conference play with a 1 p.m. game against Macalester (4-2-3, 2-0-0 MIAC) on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Haws Field.
