Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale to qualify for Academic All-MIAC recognition. Transfers, like freshmen, must complete a full academic year to be eligible the following season. To be eligible athletically, student-athletes in track and field must compete either as an individual or on a relay team at the MIAC Championships.
The 2018-19 academic year is the first with indoor and outdoor combined as one list for Academic All-MIAC distinction.
Lamb is now an eight-time Academic All-MIAC honoree (one in combined track, two in indoor, two in outdoor and three in cross country), while the award is the second consecutive for Trout. Lamb scored team points in two events at the MIAC Indoor Championships, the 800 meters (fifth) and 1,000 meters (sixth), and finished fifth in the 1,500 meters at the outdoor meet.
Trout (triple jump indoors) and Martin (110-meter hurdles outdoors) earned All-Region distinction this spring. Trout claimed second in the MIAC at both the indoor and outdoor championships, while Martin scored team points in two events at both meets. He was a member of SJU's conference-champion 4x200-meter relay and took second in the 60-meter hurdles indoors, and took second and fourth in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles, respectively, outdoors.
Thompson participated in both multi-event competitions, placing seventh indoors in the heptathlon and fifth outdoors in the decathlon. He was also a member of the Johnnies' second-place 4x400-meter relay at the outdoor meet.
Jackson was a member of SJU's sixth-place distance medley relay indoors and Webb was on the team's seventh-place 4x800-meter relay outdoors. McKinney, meanwhile, finished fourth in the javelin.
The Johnnies finished second at the MIAC Outdoor Championships and third at the MIAC indoor meet in 2019. SJU collected 19 combined indoor and outdoor All-Region honors this spring and tied for 11th at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The Johnnies' 4x100-meter relay (
Nick Gannon,
Drew Schoenbauer,
Brady Labine,
Ryan Miller) won the national title with a time of 40.92 seconds. Miller earned his second All-America distinction of the meet with a second-place finish, and school-record time of 10.22 seconds, in the 100-meter dash.
