5/3/2019 11:12:00 AM

Saint John's track & field hosts the annual Meet of Saints at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, in Clemens Stadium.

TRACK DEDICATION: Saint John's will dedicate the track within Clemens Stadium in honor of former track and field head coach Tim Miles '76 following Saturday's meet (approximately 2 p.m.). A reception with Miles will immediately follow at Brother Willie's Pub in Sexton Commons.

MILES: The 2018 cross country season was the 40th as the Johnnies' head coach for Miles, who also led the track and field team for 36 seasons (1980-2015) and still assists the program. He produced a winning track and field program that finished among the MIAC's top two squads 23 times, including five MIAC championships (1997, 1999, 2005, 2007, 2011). Miles won MIAC Coach of the Year honors in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2011. At the national level, Miles' student-athletes put together 61 NCAA Division III All-America performances, including five national titles.

His cross country program has finished among the MIAC's top two squads in 24 of the past 39 seasons with nine MIAC titles (1981, 1982, 1983, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2006 and 2007). He has had 22 cross country teams qualify for the national meet, with 17 recording top-15 finishes.

As an athlete at Saint John's, Miles was an All-MIAC performer in cross country and the MIAC six-mile run champion and steeplechase runner-up on the track as a senior in 1976.
